Dry Needling is based on the principles of Western medicine of treating myofascial trigger points. Dry Needling is the insertion of thin, sterile monofilament needles into the myofascial trigger points to treat movement impairments and neuromusculoskeletal pain. A trigger point is a tight band or a local contracture within a muscle fiber which can decrease function, restrict ROM, refer pain or cause local tenderness. Dry Needling of the trigger points causes biochemical changes within the body, which releases the trigger points and helps reduce pain.
